FAQ

How do I join?

Members are recruited annually near the beginning of the school year. Look for us at the Engineering Clubs Fair or come out to our Annual General Meeting.

I don't know anything about concrete. Can I still join?

Yes! You don't need to have any prior knowledge of concrete or sled design.

Do i have to be in an engineering program to join?

While the concrete toboggan is primarly made up of Engineering students, the team is open to any University of Alberta students! We have had team members from Nursing, Art, Nutrition, Business, Computer Science, Biology & Kinesiology in past years!

HOw many people go to competition?

The U of A competing team consists of 30 members. Some years we try to send a non competing team to competition in addition to our competing team. The non competing team gets to do everything the same as competing. In previous years we have had a non competing team consisting of 10-30 members.

Who is on the competing team?

Our team uses a points system. Each hour you spend at an event or helping the team will be worth a point. The final team roster is chosen in December.

what kind of events do you hold?

Concrete pours are held almost weekly and other events include team building activities such as frisbee, costume builds, technical display builds and sled builds.

I wish I’d joined in first year.
